Broadcast Rental Widens Customer Prospects with Five New XT3 Servers from EVS

Liège, 28 November 2011 – Broadcast Rental, a full-service rental house, has recently invested in five new 8-channel XT3 production servers from EVS. “The new generation of EVS servers will broaden our customers’ recording and live production capabilities with 3Gbps in/out channels and an increased internal bandwidth of up to 550 Mb/s per video channel” explained GP Slee, Managing Director and founder of Broadcast Rental.

The XT3 servers, which have been delivered with the new Multicam11 software, can be used to ingest multiple feeds from various sources including cameras, satellite, craft editors and video tape recorders. They can be configured to support up to eight HD channels or six 3D/1080p channels in multiple IN/OUT modes and are controlled with EVS’ MulticamLSM remote controls, which allow operators to create clips, produce live action replays (including Super and Ultra Slow Motion) and highlight packages. The latest EVS server from the XT series also natively supports a wide range of codecs, allowing production teams to easily choose a compression scheme for the entire editing process.

The order comes after a series of previous acquisitions from EVS, including the content production and management suite IPDirector, which provides a complete overview of the EVS production workflow and allows operators to browse, edit, transfer and play out recorded content instantly.

GP concludes: “There is an important demand for EVS servers because customers have come to trust the technology and they can easily use it for live OB operations or fast turnaround studio productions. And with the new features of the XT3, we simply broaden our customers’ production capabilities”.

To help operators calculate storage capacity and recording time, Broadcast Rental has developed a new EVS App. See Details

Gateway Church Finalizes a New State of the Art Worship Facility Featuring EVS Technology SOUTHLAKE, Texas – 23 November 2011

Gateway Church Finalizes a New State of the Art Worship Facility Featuring EVS Technology

SOUTHLAKE, Texas – 23 November 2011 – Gateway Church, the Bible-based evangelical church, inaugurated its new campus last fall. The new facilities include the latest audio and video production equipment. Requiring the best technology available, Gateway church opted for EVS solutions.

Gateway Church

Gateway Church has over 20,000 people in its congregation. Pastors’ messages and main services are recorded at the new primary campus in Southlake, Texas. The latest facility covers over 200,000 square feet, including a 4,000 seat sanctuary and a brand new television studio.

Gateway Church’s system is equipped with two 6-channel XT[2]s and one XS production server controlled by an IPDirector content production management suite allowing ingest control, metadata management, on the fly editing and playout scheduling. Footage is captured from 8 to 10 different camera angles. Content recorded on the XT[2] production server is then played back on three big screens that are set up on stage as well as other campuses.

Using IPDirector’s ingest scheduling feature and server loop recording system, Gateway Church staff members can immediately browse active recordings and select proper feeds for playout to other campuses.
Gateway Church also uses EVS servers for live delay. Sermons are on standby until other campuses are ready for the feed.

All videos for Gateway Church are edited in edit suites located about 1 mile from the main facility. Videos are then transferred through Gigabit Ethernet to EVS Servers via XTAccess. Also, EVS recently upgraded the 6-channel XT[2] and XS servers from 5 to 10 300GB Drives and added transcoding software on their XTAccess PC. This upgrade gives Gateway Church twice the storage capacity for ingest and playout needs as well as new flexible delivery methods.

Frederic Garroy from EVS comments: “We are very pleased that Gateway Church opted for our technology to accomplish their project.  This system and workflow are a great example of how EVS’ presence has expanded far beyond sports and remote production environments.”

David Leuschner, Executive Director Technical Arts at Gateway Church says: “We use EVS for all our recording, playback and delayed playback needs. It’s a rock solid product we can always count on.” Leushcner adds that “EVS is very important to us because of its reliability. It’s a bulletproof solution for our needs. Moreover, it is very easy to train volunteers while providing playback and recording flexibility we require.”
