EVS wins IBC2009 Innovation Awards
EVS INSTANT TAPELESS TECHNOLOGY AWARDED FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE RTBF NUMPROD PROJECT. Yesterday,
EVS Broadcast Equipment, along with Dalet, received the 2009 IBC
Innovation Awards in the Content Management category for their
significant contribution to RTBF’s (Belgian French-speaking public
broadcaster) digitization and tapeless enterprise called, NUMPROD.

In
2008, RTBF launched the NUMPROD project to migrate its television
broadcast operations to a full tapeless workflow, that offered
integrated production, content management, media essence and metadata
management for multi-channel and multi-platform distribution. RTBF
opted for a combined production solution, which includes EVS Instant
Tapeless Technology and Dalet media management systems. Both
technologies had to achieve a deep level of integration to allow media
interchange and referencing. In addition, EVS and Dalet solutions were
optimized to be fully interfaced with the RTBF Intranet de Production,
a proprietary media management system using new exchange technologies,
such as API Web Services and the SOAP protocol xml file exchanges - an
ESB and Oracle database. Both broadcast
technology specialists, EVS and Dalet, provided RTBF with a highly
flexible and scalable tapeless workflow facilitating the production
needs for a wide range of resources dedicated to news, sports and
television programs. The innovative workflows from ingest to playout
rely on the integration between EVS’ production and central storage
servers, as well as its production management software IPDirector and
Dalet enterprise media asset management technology. “EVS
is extremely honored to obtain this recognition from the 2009 IBC
Innovation Awards organization. I would like to express my
congratulations to RTBF for its successful achievement in such a
challenging project. I also want to express my thanks to our partners
from Dalet, and to all the teams at EVS that were involved in this
successful enterprise”, says Pierre L’Hoest, CEO of EVS. “This reward
illustrates EVS’ ability to develop viable solutions for studio
productions and to fulfill broadcasters’ requirements in terms of
reliability, efficiency, and open technology.” Visit EVS at IBC 2009, Hall 8, stand B90. Read More - RTBF Case Study Watch video
